The administrative team in the area of academics includes: Dean of Academics, Academic Support Staff, Guidance & College Counseling, Academic Department Chairpersons, and Director of Technology.
Mission College Prep boasts a talented student-body of 300 young men and women. The faculty consists of 19 full-time and 5 part-time men and women, many who hold advanced degrees. The average class size is 22. Students are challenged and supported by caring faculty and held accountable for their performance. Over the last eight years, our graduating seniors have had a 99% college acceptance rate.

To graduate, Mission College Prep students must also complete a minimum of 100 hours of community and school service over four years. * A mathematics course is required every semester
Mission College Prep offers over 50 college prep courses approved and certified by the University of California meeting “a-g” requirements including six honors courses, thirteen Advanced Placement, and several dual-placement courses providing UC-transferable college credit through Cuesta College. Mission College Prep also offers courses in leadership, health, well-rounded electives, and Catholic Theology. MCP elective offerings have been expanded based on student interest to include video production, robotics, digital photography, art, music, and drama.
The unique block schedule provides many student benefits and has built in flex periods. Students enroll in seven courses, each of which meets every other day for 80 minutes per class.
Advanced Placement test results are an outstanding indication of the academic prowess at MCP. Annually, Mission College Prep students exceed the national averages in test scores and pass rates. In the 2018-2019 school year, 71.9% of all 11th and 12th graders took an AP course.
Historically, 99% of seniors attend a college or university and nearly 90% go directly to a four-year college or university.
Members of the graduating class of 2019 took both the SAT and ACT exams. The average score for the Class of 2019 was a 613 in Critical reading and a 603 in Math on the SAT and an average composite score of 25.9 on the ACT.
