Christmas Morning At MCP

MCP students celebrated the first annual ‘Christmas Morning’ event together on Monday the 12th which included caroling, a family style meal, gift exchanges, and even a visit from Santa! It was a wonderful time for the entire MCP community and take a look at the pictures below to get a flavor of the morning. Merry Christmas from MCP!

Hot Tournament Starts for Royals

Mission Prep erased a five-point, fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Righetti 47-45.

Jenna Dunbar scored 20 points, and Kaylee Williams and Bri Harvey added 12 each for the Royals (5-1).

Zach Allmon scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Mission Prep (5-0) over Atascadero (3-2) in their first-round matchup.

Connor Woolpert added 22 points as well, and Andy Rowley and Mike Cardwell scored five each for the Royals.

Royals Remain Unbeaten

The Mission Prep boys remained undefeated to start the season with a 64-46 win at Paso Robles on Tuesday.

The Royals Connor Woolpert led all scorers with 30 points. The junior hit four 3-pointers in the win. Mission Prep improved to 3-0 on the season, while Paso Robles dropped to 2-4.

The Royals return to action on Thursday at the Optimist Tournament hosted by Arroyo Grande High. Mission opens at 3:30 pm against Atascadero.

Royals Bounce Back in Second Half for Win

Royals quarterback Tyler Baty completed 21 of 45 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns in the nonleague victory.

After a scoreless first quarter, Trevor Fernandez caught a 41-yard pass from Baty to score the first touchdown of the game.

Villanova responded with a 70-yard touchdown pass and 30-yard field goal to take a 10-7 halftime lead.

It wouldn’t be until the final six seconds of the third quarter that Mission Prep (3-1) scored again with Baty running for a 56-yard touchdown.

Royals Fall on the Road to Bishop Diego

The Royals (2-1) rallied late but couldn’t overcome a 30-7 halftime deficit on the road.

Quarterback Tyler Baty had a 34-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Joey Hall in the third quarter, and Pat Laird punched in a 2-yard touchdown run in the second.

“Mistakes put us in a hole and made it difficult to come out of, although our defense did well with interceptions,” Mission Prep coach Chad Henry said.

Baty finished the game 23-of-39 passing with three interceptions and 195 yards.

Royals Air it Out in First Home Win of the Season

Mission Prep’s football team dismantled Mammoth 41-0 on Saturday night. In two games this season, the Royals have outscored their opponents 89-0. The Huskies were overmatched from the opening quarter, as Mission Prep jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead. Tyler Baty tossed two of his five touchdown passes in the first quarter, and Calin Levisay had a 10-yard interception return for a score to bury Mammoth early. Baty finished with five touchdowns and 288 passing yards, and Trevor Fernandez had eight catches for 109 yards and three touchdowns.

Alumni Bob Mott Named Spirit of St. Francis Medalist

Alum and University of San Francisco Dons Pitcher/Outfielder Bob Mott was recently named the Spirit of St. Francis Medalist at the USF Mass of the Holy Spirit.

"The St. Francis award is given to the student who best exemplifies the ideals of the Saint in whose honor this City is named.  Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan order, was most renowned for his humble and loving service of all people, especially the poor and marginalized."
