MCP Distance Learning - Weekly Update - Senior News

Dear MCP Senior Families and students,

We hope that the small gift of our first-ever ‘operation: MCP senior yard sign’ came as a pleasant surprise (and if you haven’t seen it yet, every MCP senior now has a beautiful yard sign in front of their house, showing off to the entire world that they are a member of the class of 2020 at MCP).  We are so proud of our senior class both for their incredible growth over the past four years and certainly for the grace and grit they have shown in weathering this unprecedented disruption to their senior year.  The class of 2020 has left a legacy upon our school and upon our community that will be celebrated for many years to come.

We would love to get a picture of every senior and their new sign and post them to our MCP social media, so please get those camera phones ready, get your senior out to the front yard, and get those pictures to MCP Director of Advancement, Ryan Weisenberg ([email protected]).

In recognition of our seniors and their legacy, MCP remains committed to a graduation ceremony for our seniors and their families on June 5, 2020.  Any live ceremony would, of course, only be conducted with the utmost commitment to the safety of our students, their families, and our staff (and it will probably be unlike any graduation in the history of our school!) but we are exploring several options for a live event of some kind on this date and are hopeful that we'll be able to make a more specific announcement very soon.

Lastly for our seniors and their service hours.  Although we consider our service requirement one of the most essential components of a student’s experience at Mission Prep, the health and wellbeing of our students and families simply must be the top priority right now.

Any senior who, as of next Tuesday (4/28), still has hours left to be served on their four year service requirement may satisfy all of those remaining hours by completing a single, specific project, in service to the school.  We will describe this project in further detail in an email next week. The project will be something that all seniors, regardless of their circumstance, should be more than capable of completing while Distance Learning.

Senior students should continue to log all completed service hours into their Mobileserve account and make sure that it is up to date by Tuesday, so that we will know which seniors need to still complete the project.  Any senior who has completed all of their hours would still be welcome to take on this project, but it will only be required of those seniors who have not fulfilled them.  If there are still questions about the project after the email goes out next week please contact Mrs. Buresh.  Non-seniors will also see an appropriate reduction in their service requirement but this project is only for members of the class of 2020.

I hope you know that we love and miss all of your students and can’t wait to see you all at graduation.  Please let us see the pictures of our seniors with their yard signs and please, everyone, ‘hang in there!’  There will an after to this crisis and WeWill get there as a community.

Yours in Christ,

Mike Susank
