Dear MCP (Senior Class) Families,
As we get closer to graduation in the next couple of months, we start to reflect on each senior’s educational journey. Our goal for each student by the time they graduate is to establish their Profile as An MCP Graduate: Faith-Filled, Academic achievers, Spirited individuals, Ethical decision-makers, Effective communicators, Compassionate leaders, Globally responsible citizens, Lifelong learners, and Stewards of Self.
We all know that life after high school comes with a lot of hard decisions. When your son/daughter leave home for college, they will take on the world with new experiences and face major responsibilities. As parents, you will realize that they will soon be “on their own” to learn basic life skills – while simultaneously adjusting to a new environment and new freedoms. To help your son/daughter in this transition, they should know the “financial facts of life” before opening that first checking account or making that first purchase on credit.
We have scheduled (May 12, 2022) a Financial Literacy presentation for all our seniors presented by Mr. Rick London [CEO of United Way of San Luis Obispo County]. The specific program is called Money Talks on which the presentation will cover the following key areas:
- Your Money Personality
- Saving by Paying Yourself First
- Using a Budget
- Credit vs. Debit Cards
- Credit Reports vs. Credit Score
United Way's Money Talks for Teens program was designed to inspire youth to understand the importance of financial skills and provide a basis that students can use for lifelong development of personal financial literacy.
