MCP will have branded merchandise on sale in the courtyard prior to the New Student Orientation on Monday, May 15th and during Sports Physicals Night on Wednesday, May 17th. Go Royals!

On the biggest stage of the year, MCP’s Men’s Golf team came through with an all-out team effort to grab 2nd place at the CIF Central Section Division 2 Golf Championship at Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia on May 9th. The Royals came into the championship as the 5th place finisher in the Mountain League and had to overcome local favorites Sierra Pacific, Immanuel, and Lemoore. At the end of the day MCP would outlast all but Mountain League's Santa Ynez who would finish on top as D2 champions - by a slim 5-stroke margin.
MCP got off to a strong start with Luke Montoya quickly getting to 3-under par and Landon Smith and Augustin Nguyen playing steady even par golf. At one point on the back nine, the Royals were tied for first place. Jake Long, AJ Jespen, and Ben Gingerich each played fantastic and their efforts helped keep the team in contention. But when the final scores came in, it took Santa Ynez's number 5 player shooting a remarkable 75 to earn team victory for the Pirates. When the team scores were tallied up after all players were finished Mission Prep's score of 400 was enough for a 2nd place tie with Lemoore. However, the tie breaker for team runner-up goes to each team's number 6 player. For the Royals that was Gingerich. His 95 beat Lemoore's 101 - giving MCP 2nd place.
It was a fantastic finish for these Royals who peaked at the right time.
Luke Montoya also finished runner-up in the individual competition with score of 2-under par 70. Zack Tarter of Sierra Pacific earned medalist honors with 4-under par 68.
Three Royals, Montoya (2nd), Smith (23rd), and Nguyen (25th) finished in the Top 25 of the combined Area, D3, and D2 tournaments and qualified for the next round of CIF playoffs - CIF CS Section Championship to be played next week at San Joaquin Country Club.

MCP's Men's Tennis team defeated Orcutt Academy 5-1 on Tuesday, May 9th in the CIF Division III Finals. This is their second straight CIF title, and fourth straight year making it to the CIF finals. The team had a fantastic season, they finished second in Mountain League, won CIF, and had several players qualify for CIF individuals that are taking place this weekend. Way to go Royals!!!

Junior families, this Saturday, May 13th is People's Kitchen. Please look for an email with your food assignment or click the link. All food must arrive at the People's Kitchen between 11:00-11:30 AM. Please do not 'skip it'. If you are going to be out town, please coordinate with another family to help deliver your item. Thank you for your support of our community in need.

In order for a student athlete to be cleared to play sports for next year, MCP needs both (1) the student's athletic clearance account to be opted into and (2) have a up-to-date physical on file with the school. The MCP Athletic Physical Night is by far the most convenient way for an athlete to be cleared for the 2023-2024 school year. This event is open to incoming MCP students as well as to returning student athletes. The cost for the physical is $25, and we can take cash/check at the door. We will also be taking electronic payments this year via our GoFan platform. You can pre-purchase your GoFan payment by clicking the link or we can help you process this at the door next week. Directions on how to create/update your athletic clearance account for the 23-24 school year can be found on our website by clicking the story link. Please note that you will only be able to complete steps 1 and 2 if you are getting your athletic physical with us on May 17. We will complete step 3 -- upload and attach it for you. This will help us expedite the process if you create/update the account prior to next Wednesday. We will be scanning the completed physical before the athlete leaves campus that night to help ensure we can get them cleared in an expedited fashion and remove the burden of families needing to scan and attach the document. If you decide to get an athletic physical with your own doctor, you will need to complete step 3 and upload and attach it to your profile.

MCP Men's Tennis made history again today (Friday) by qualifying in singles (Easton Weir) and a Doubles team (Levi Munster and Nick Loughead) to the CIF Central Section Individual Tournament. This is the first-time the Royals have sent more than 1 representative. The boys will travel to Reedley California on Friday, May 12th & 13th to represent the Central Coast Athletic League. Congrats!!!

Head's up to our MCP drivers - the City of San Luis Obispo will begin construction on a new parking structure this month at the corner of Palm and Nipomo across from our baseball field. If your student traditionally parks in that lot, they should plan extra time to find alternative parking. Please be aware of all parking signs, restrictions, and meters.
