Today marks the beginning of the “Course Selection” process for the upcoming school year. MCP will be hosting all of the juniors during flex today, all the sophomores during flex on Tuesday, 1/24, and all the freshmen during flex on Thursday, 1/26 and Thursday, 2/9.

MCP's Winter Formal is almost here! Dress code and guest pass information is posted around the school and on the MCP website under Student Life. This year's MCP Winter Formal will be hosted at Rava Wines in Paso Robles from 8:00-10:00 PM. Guest passes are $20 with guest pass forms available for pick up in the Main Office and are due by Thursday, Jan. 18th.

This month’s Royal Spirit Award recipient is Dawn Cary. Dawn is the PA former PA President and proud mother of senior Arthur Cary. She helped the MCP Parents Association make a smooth transition back to 'regular' meetings post Covid with ease. She’s always donating her time, supplies, and helping with staff appreciation lunches and school-wide events. Dawn is a natural leader with warm enthusiasm and a huge heart. MCP is grateful for all that Dawn has contributed to our community. Congratulations to Dawn Cary.

MCP's music teacher Mrs. Anderson's popular Camp Broadway youth summer camp is back for another year! The camp is open to youth grades kindergarten - 8th grade and will run M-F July 10-30th. Camp/rehearsals will be at St. Patrick's School in Arroyo Grande with shows held at the MCP PAC on July 28th, 29th and 30th. This camp fills up quickly. MCP's men's basketball team started off their season with a solid 2-0 win against Pioneer Valley and Atascadero. We congratulate senior JJ Howard on his achievement of hitting over 1,000 career points. Congrats both to JJ Howard and the men's basketball team. Go Royals!

Reminder to all Freshmen families, this Saturday, Jan. 14th is People's Kitchen. Please look for an email with your food assignment or click the link. All food must arrive at the People's Kitchen between 11:00-11:30 AM. Thank you for helping support our community.

The Sprit Point Competition is heating up. The Juniors are in last place with 1539 but they are only 50 points behind the Freshmen who are at 1589. The Seniors are having a strong winter season and are in 2nd place with 1696 and they are closing in on the sophomores who are currently in first place with 1894.

A huge congratulations goes out to our Men's and Women's Basketball teams who competed in various tournaments over the Christmas break.

Boys Basketball -
The MCP Christmas Classic was an amazing event and we not only congratulate our team, but all of the parent volunteers for making it a great success!!! The boys went 2-2 and finished in 4th place out of 16 teams.

Girls Basketball -
The Lady Royals performed very well at the Mission Oak Tournament the week after Christmas making it all the way to the finals. They came up short against a very good Nipomo team (11-1).

Way to go Royals!
