A big shout-out to the two Mission College Prep MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge teams. These dedicated students spent 14 continuous hours on Saturday, March 2nd, or on Sunday, March 3rd digging into this year’s challenge of creating a mathematical model to understand how the housing shortage and homeless populations are intertwined crises from a long-term perspective. The two crises are exacerbated by unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and economic downturns. Their models are designed to help governments make plans not just for the next several years, but for the next several decades. The groups worked with data for Seattle, WA, and Albuquerque, NM.

This year’s teams were:
Seniors - Evan Collier, Bella Graza, Isa Rosales, Neill Safreno, Ava Szytel
Juniors - Matt Daniels, Jake Long, Bruno Monroe, Serena Mu

For the first time in 16 years, the Mission College Prep Women's Soccer team has won the CIF Division IV Central Section Championships. Our Lady Royals took on Fresno's San Joaquin Memorial on Friday, February 23rd and won 2-0. The team greatly appreciated all of the students, teachers, staff and families who made the long trip to Fresno to cheer them on. Way to go Lady Royals we are proud of you!

Please join us tomorrow for the Parents Association Monthly Meeting on Thursday, March 7th at 8:30 AM in the Café Royale. This meeting is a joint meeting with the Faculty & Staff. We will be planning for end of year activities and ways the parents can help. Our featured guest speaker is Carlesha Harris, MCP's Director of Business Operations who will talk about registration and service hours. We hope to see you there!

The MCP Mid-State Fair Dance is Saturday, March 9, in the MCP Courtyard. FFA will be taking over the dance from 7:30-8:30pm when several line dances and swing dances will be taught to all attendees. All students from all grades are encouraged to attend, and FFA members will receive an FFA activity point for attending the dance. The regular Student council dance for all grades will follow from 8:30-10:00pm. Wear your best country gear! Click the link for the dress code and more dance details.

During the week of March 5-8th we will celebrate All In for Mission which is an annual giving campaign supporting the students, activities, and academics of Mission College Prep. We ask you to join us by making a contribution. Please be, "All In for Mission!" Click the link to donate. Thank you.

MCP's Men's Basketball team will be taking on Cleveland High School in Reseda tomorrow, March 2nd at 5PM. This is the regional semi final game in the CIF State Division IV bracket. MCP won against Diamond Ranch on Wednesday, and Grant last night. Let's cheer on our Royals!

Purchase your tickets today for MCP's annual family Bingo Night & Pasta Dinner on Friday, March 8th from 5:30-8:30 PM in the MCP gym. This family-friendly event features a night of bingo with great prizes for each round and a grand prize of a $100 Visa gift card to the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time player) of the night! Great food, fun, and community is what MCP's Bingo Night is all about! Tickets must be purchased in advance (we want to make sure we have enough dinner for everyone). The sixth annual Love SLO community wide day of service will be held on Saturday, April 13th in San Luis Obispo as part of the national Love Our Cities movement. The San Luis Obispo community will come together to celebrate their hometown and work alongside one another to benefit organizations throughout the city. Click the link to sign up for a project.
